Cashless benefits under Maternity Benefit Act 1961

The M.B. Act grants cash benefits like maternity benefit (leave for 26 weeks with wages) u/sec.5, medical bonus(sec.8), tubectomy(14 days leave with wages sec.9A) and for miscarriage (six weeks leave with wages, sec.9), one month leave with wages for illness arising out of pregnancy (sec.10)

There are following cashless benefits too under the Act

  1. two nursing breaks of 15 minutes duration(sec.11)
  2. To be given light work if she so requests during the period of one month before six weeks, she proceeds on leave(sec.4)
  3. Not to dismiss or discharge during her absence due to pregnancy/delivery or miscarriage(sec.12)
  4. No deduction from her wages, paid as maternity benefit for absence due to nursing breaks etc.(sec.13)
  5. Providing creche facility as per norms.
